Gullas says drug rehabilitation a must for Joavan
CEBU, Philippines - Although admitting that he is an optimist, Cebu First District Rep. Eduardo Gullas yesterday said that Joavan Fernandez needs an expert for him to become a better man.
“I thank him for his good intention, but Joavan needs an expert’s advice. He has to get it from someone who has expertise,” said Gullas in reference to Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Director Ramon Melvin Buenafe.
Buenafe has volunteered to become Joavan’s “big brother” in the hopes of changing the attitude of Talisay City Mayor Soc Fernandez’s son.
Although Gullas is “praying” for Joavan’s successful character makeover, the congressman said Joavan needs to be rehabilitated, of which Buenafe was not trained to do.
“Wa man gud siyay training pagrehab sa usa ka tawo nga na-involve sa drugs. But I’m praying, iyang gipakita (Joavan), maayo unta nga magpadayun,” he added.
Gullas has been telling Fernandez to send his only son to a rehabilitation clinic after Joavan was implicated in a series of crimes in Talisay City and other areas.
But lately, a different Joavan was seen in Talisay City handing out free porridge to indigent children. He also volunteered to help his father in his housing projects. The Talisay City Police Station has also invited him to join in its crime-buster team.
And if these are only for show, Gullas said “it remains to be seen” as according to him what Buenafe has are “untested methods.” (FREEMAN)
