Cabbie kills self

CEBU, Philippines - A taxi driver hung himself inside their house in Sitio San Antonio, Barangay Binabag, Bogo City yesterday afternoon.

Bernardo Amores Tabaco, 40, was last seen by his relatives slammed his cellular phone after reading a message in it.

Juped, the victim’s son, found his father inside their bedroom with a nylon rope looped in his neck with the other end was tied to the ceiling.

PO3 Allan Dosdos, Bogo police investigator said the victim’s wife, Anabelle, 40, and Juped noticed when they came home from their farm about 5:30 p.m. that the front door of their house was locked.

In order to gain entrance, Juped took some of the jalousie blades and wiggled inside but was surprised he saw his father already hanging lifeless.

They then called for assistance but Dr. Edgar Espinosa, San Remigio, municipal health officer, who is living in the barangay, declared Bernardo dead. He said he found no foul play in the death of the victim.

Dosdos said they believe Bernardo was keeping something to himself which triggered him to commit suicide.

“Basin naa ni threat posible nga mao’y hinungdan nga gibunal niya iyang cellphone,” Dosdos said.

The police could no longer trace Bernardo’s text messages after Anabelle allegedly deleted everything in his cell phone. (FREEMAN)
