CPPO to intensify Night Watch Patrol

- Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Provincial Police Office will be intensifying its Night Watch Patrol in the northwestern part of the province due to the successive robbery incidents in the area.

Supt. Teofilo Siclot, CPPO deputy provincial director for operation, said because of the random checkpoints being conducted by the Balamban police, robbers are now starting to move to the neighboring towns.

“Didto na sila tira sa Naga ug Toledo kay maglisod na sila sa Balamban,” Siclot said.

The Night Watch Patrol is comprised of eight teams from the Cebu Provincial Police Office and augmented by another two teams from the police stations where the patrol is conducting their operation.

Siclot, who also heads the Northwest Anti-Robbery Task Force, plans to convene the chiefs of police in northwestern towns to discuss the crime clock and the crime days.

Senior Supt. Patrocinio Comendador, CPPO director, reactivated the patrol last March to help in monitoring the crime-prone areas in the province.

Meanwhile, a sales agent of JJO Enterprises lost her P5,000 proceeds after she was robbed by motorcycle-riding men in Sitio Bagong Buhay, Barangay Lutopan, Toledo City Wednesday afternoon.

Alma Longakit, 33, of Sitio Laray II, Barangay Buanoy, Balamban alleged that she was counting bottles of soft drinks beside their delivery truck parked along the road when a motorcycle stopped nearby.

The back rider allegedly disembarked and approached her, poking a gun at her neck and grabbed her red bag containing the cash.

Longakit failed to identify the robbers who were wearing black jackets and close helmets while boarding a blue Honda Wave motorcycle with its plate number covered with a piece of cloth.  (FREEMAN)
