Rama to attend annual mayor's meet in Israel
CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama has been invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel to the 27th Annual Mayor’s Conference to be held in Tel Aviv from June 12 to June 16.
The event will be hosted jointly by the American Council for World Jewry, the Union of Local Authorities in Israel and the Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It will be attended by mayors around the world who will have the opportunity to get acquainted with each other and learn from experts in urban development.
“This event will allow all of us to share experiences in handling challenges that face today’s mayors – the clean technology, digital education, creating safe cities and introducing alternative energy into modern cities,” said Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon in the invitation. The organizers of the event recognize the important role of the mayors in generating change among the people to whom they have great influence as a leader.
Aside from focused discussion, the five-day conference will include tours of Israel’s commercial and urban centers, visits to major companies and tour at the Dead Sea and other points of interest in that country.
“This conference has become a cornerstone for the establishment of an informal network of urban connections from all over the world which we hope will prove beneficial,” Ayalon said.
The Israel government will provide for the accommodation while the city government will spend for the airfare to and from Israel.
Rama is reportedly bringing representatives from the private sectors for possible economic links and investments. (FREEMAN)
