CCCI to Magpale: Keep tourism committee

-

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) has requested Cebu Vice Governor Agnes Magpale to remain as chairperson of the Provincial Board committee on tourism.

Earlier, Magpale announced that she might give up committees now that she is the vice governor.

Dr. Mila Espina, CCCI chairperson on tourism, said they already have a lot of tourism programs and activities in partnership with the Province of Cebu.

“She should really exist. Should she redirect, other tourism projects might be neglected,” Espina said during the recent 888 News Forum at Marco Polo Plaza.

Magpale admitted that tourism is really in her heart. She has been actively involved in tourism programs of the province as PB committee chairperson for several years.

The PB internal house rules, though, do not prohibit her from holding any committees aside from being the presiding officer of the Board.

Magpale assured the CCCI that she would remain as active in the tourism activities even in her private capacity should the pending election protest of his predecessor, the late Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez, Jr., will favor the protestant, Glenn Anthony Soco.

Cebu Business Month 2011 tourism chairperson Tess Chan announced that the CCCI is now gearing towards another project for the Province.

In Cebu City, the CCCI launched the Adopt-A-Police Station project to promote peace and order.

In the Province, Chan said the CCCI will also launch Adopt-A-Toilet project in every municipality to promote awareness of the importance of sanitation.

Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia has encouraged the CCCI to tap the municipalities for tourism and entrepreneurial projects. — (FREEMAN)
