Case vs DOLE official now with Manila office

- Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon -

CEBU, Philippines - The Department of Labor and Employment-Region VII have already forwarded to their head office the administrative complaint lodged against a department official, who was entrapped last week by policemen for allegedly receiving money from a spa owner.

DOLE-7 director Exequiel Sarcauga said the administrative case against Wilfredo Wagas was already forwarded to the legal department of their head office in Manila for investigation.

Sarcauga said his office has no legal officer to conduct investigation into the matter.

Wagas was charged for violating the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act for allegedly demanding money from Johnny Lim, owner of Body and Sole Spa.

Wagas, who is the DOLE-7’s hearing officer, had strongly denied the accusations contending that they are just fabricated stories, saying he regretted helping Lim.

Sarcauga said the entrapment of Wagas has caused shamed to the labor department.

“As of now, we are waiting as to the findings by the central office with regards to his case,” Sarcauga told The FREEMAN. (FREEMAN)
