Fil-Am doctors to hold mission

CEBU, Philippines - A group of Filipino-American doctors will be having a medical mission for residents of Cebu City and Talisay City starting on May 23 to 27 at the Cebu City Medical Center.

The mission was organized by Barangay Captain Dorotheo Emit of Pooc, Talisay City. Emit tied up with the FILAMemphis Medical Mission, the same group that held medical missions in Mandaue City, to do the same for Cebu City and Talisay.

The medical mission offers services such as cyst excision, Goiter removal, cleft lip/palate repair, and many others. The team of Filipino-American doctors composed of 7 surgeons and 12 other medical practitioners and assisting nurses will be coming for the mission.

Since the medical mission will only be held for the duration of five days, a limit of about 300 with cyst, 40 cleft lipped, and 40 thyroid patients can be accommodated.

Aside from the CCMC, the group will also be holding missions in selected barangays wherein services for blood pressure check-up, diabetes, cholesterol and other important health check up are available for free.

Among the barangays chosen to be visited by the team include Guadalupe and Labangon in Cebu City and Pooc in Talisay City. The team will also visit Sacred Heart Hospital.

Applicants for the medical mission shall bring with them certification to show that they are registered voters of Cebu City or Talisay and register in Barangay Pooc or CCMC. (FREEMAN)
