Son hacks father to death

- Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines - A 30-year-old man hacked his father several times during an argument while the two were drinking last Wednesday evening at barangay Tindog, Medellin, northern Cebu.

Dulcisimo Arriesga, 72, widower, had several wounds in his left thigh and right arm.

His relatives rushed him to the Severo Verallo Memorial District Hospital in Bogo City but he was declared dead on arrival.

His son Danilo Arriesga is now detained at the Medellin police stockade after he voluntarily surrendered to the policemen and turned over his 20-inch long bolo.

Senior Police Officer 2 Jose Jerson Valles, Medellin police investigator, said that the two were already drunk when Dulcisimo confronted Danilo about being unemployed.

He told his son to look for a job because he has been staying home for months already.

Danilo got mad. The two argued, Dulcisimo went inside the house and reappeared with a bolo.

Dulcisimo allegedly hacked his son but the latter was able to parry his blows. Danilo was also wounded in the process.

Danilo was able to grab the bolo and attacked his father.

Valles said the right arm of Dulcisimo was almost cut off and blood was oozing from his thigh.

“Nagkawil-kawil na iyang kamot kay hasta pulso putol man gyud,” the investigator said.

His remains was taken to the Tingoy Funeral Homes in Bogo City.

A case for parricide was filed yesterday afternoon at the Regional Trial Court Branch 16 in Bogo City. (FREEMAN)
