CEBU, Philippines - A bank teller committed suicide allegedly due to problem over some P300,000 cash he “embezzled” in Barangay Colawin, Argao early morning yesterday.
Police said 29-year-old Ivy Cope Montañez, teller of Rural Bank of Cebu South- Carcar branch, was found hanging dead from a mango tree about 30 meters away from his house by a certain Boy Panerio, a farmer.
Panerio was allegedly about to go to his farm when he saw Montañez hanging lifeless, prompting him to inform his family.
The victim’s family recovered a three-page suicide note written in large font inside her room, stating her farewell messages to his family, relatives, and friends.
The first page of his letter contains his message to his family, to his RBCS family, and to his close friend.
“This is my last option. Always remember that I am always at your side. I love you so much… To my RBCS family thank you so much guys. To the ungases boys, I really enjoy having fun with you. Please come on my burol. To my close friend Erly, dong be a good boy always I never forget you. To my RBCS-Carcar, guys good luck to all of you. God bless and more power,” the first page of his letter reads.
The second page of his suicide note allegedly requested his family that St. Peter Funeral Homes will render his funeral services and he be placed in a while coffin and buried on May 22 at Argao Public Cemetery. “Bye. I love you nay, tay, ian, glaze, vicy, ira, and ago gamay…”
The third page contains his last words to his relatives and friends, telling them that “I’ll just go ahead of you” and requesting them to pray for his soul.
PO1 Bernard Banogon told The FREEMAN they will be conducting a background check to know the reason behind the victim’s suicide.
“Possible adto mi sa banko magsugod kay basin nakasala ni siya ngadto kay wa ma’y problema sa ilang balay,” Banogon said.
Reports had it that the victim has been worried because he had allegedly embezzled some P300,000 while he was still assigned as bank teller in Bohol. – (FREEMAN)
