CEBU, Philippines - A Korean national was arrested by the operatives of the Regional Intelligence Division for buying dried marijuana leaves in Barangay Poblacion, Cordova Wednesday evening.

Kim Min Su, 34, who is temporarily residing at Collinwood Subdivision, Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City, is now detained at the Police Regional Office-7.

Recovered from his possession was a large plastic pack of dried marijuana leaves and five pieces of P500 bills.

The recovered marijuana leaves were brought to the Philippine National Police crime laboratory for examination.

Kim was caught by RID operatives in the act of handling P2,500 to an unidentified man. The man immediately fled after noticing the presence of the operatives.

The RID operatives were in Cordova since 3:00 p.m. monitoring a murder suspect.

PSupt. Glenn Cinco said his men were operating in the area when they sighted Kim engaging in an illegal transaction with a man.

The operatives approached the two and introduced themselves as policemen but the man immediately fled.

Kim arrived in Cebu last April 26 with his wife and two kids.

Meanwhile, some 20 stalks of fully-grown marijuana and 30 newly planted seedlings were uprooted in a farm in Guadalupe, Alegria, Cebu also last Wednesday.

According to SPO4 Rutillo Cardona, members of the Alegria Police Station were conducting an operation in the area when an informant told them of the marijuana plants.

Upon reaching the place, the team spotted a farmer who, upon noticing the police, immediately fled the area.

The recovered marijuana plants and seedlings were brought to the Alegria Police Station. – (FREEMAN)
