PUJ driver shot dead by passenger
CEBU, Philippines - A jeepney driver was shot dead by one of his passengers on Osmeña Boulevard, Barangay Santa Cruz Sunday afternoon.
Bob Fermin Rosel Jr., 21, of Unit 4 OPRRA Village, Barangay Kalunasan, died of a single gunshot wound in the left chest at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center where he was rushed after he got shot by his unidentified passenger.
Renren Bahente Alasas, 21, who served as Rosel’s conductor, said that they stopped at Fuente Osmeña to call for more passengers when the gunman got mad at him.
According to Alasas, the unidentified gunman was blocking the door prompting him to admonish the man. Alasas said he told the person in vernacular, “Part paagia una ang babaye kay moplite ra ba ni,” which allegedly irked the person.
Alasas said the unidentified gunman pointed the gun at him first but Rosel disembarked and pulled out a tire wrench prompting the man to shoot him instead.
After shooting Rosel, the gunman and two other companions fled on foot. (FREEMAN)
