Police arrest 6 men for illegal drugs
CEBU, Philippines - Six persons were arrested while one escaped during separate operations against illegal drugs in different areas in Cebu Province.
A 32-year-old man was arrested in a buy bust operation conducted by the Oslob Police in Barangay Looc, Oslob last Friday morning.
Marvin “Pare” Otico, single, was arrested outside his house by PO3 Nelson Saquibal and PO2 Allan Villacerda at around 10:30 am.
Oslob Police Station Alert Team’s P01 Richard Cababat said Otico is a known pusher in their barangay and was under close watch by the police for weeks.
Recovered from Otico were the P500 marked money, one sachet of shabu and a blue gray 3315 cell phone which contains messages about his illegal drugs transactions.
He is now temporarily detained at the Oslob Police Station waiting for the police to file charges against him.
Meanwhile, at around 10:00 pm of the same day, four men were arrested in a police operation against illegal drugs in Sitio Mojon, Langtad, Naga.
Arrested and detained are Randy Fernandez 21 and Eugene Fuentes, 31, both residents of Sibonga; Arjay Ibarentos, 24 and Susimo Asargon, 43, both from Carcar.
Naga Police Station Desk Officer Ronjie Nadora said that a certain Joseph Reville was the target of the police operation.
Reville, who managed to escape, has a warrant of arrest for violation of Section 5 Article II of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
Nadora said that an informant spotted four unidentified persons having a shabu session. The responding officers verified the information, leading to the arrest of the four.
Recovered from the suspects were two sachets of small transparent plastics, two lighters, five tin foils and tissue papers.
In another incident, a 24-year-old man was arrested last Saturday evening after an operation conducted by the Liloan Police near the Silot Bay in Yati, Liloan.
Joselito “Jay” Martinez, single, unemployed and a resident of the said place, was arrested by SPO4 Alex Pepito, SPO2 Ernesto Pepito Jr. and members of the Barangay Intelligence Network.
Seized from Martinez were five sticks of dried marijuana leaves.
Liloan Police Station Desk Officer PO2 Routchil Jugalbot said the suspect was under surveillance for two weeks.
Martinez is now detained at the Liloan Police Station. —(FREEMAN)
