Drunk man torches own house

CEBU, Philippines -  A drunk man allegedly burned down his own house in Barangay Duangon, Pinamungajan town, Cebu, last Friday afternoon.

The man was identified as Charlie Brown, a Filipino-American.

According to PO2 Jason Caliguid, Charlie was alone in the house and drunk when the incident happened. A certain “Sonny” suddenly saw that the house was on fire and kicked the door in.

He reported seeing Charlie throw a monobloc chair into the flames while yelling “Party! Party!”

Sonny rushed to Lolita who was out in a field some distance from their house pasturing their cows. Lolita hurriedly went to her house and reported the incident to the said police station.

The police responded to the said incident together with Pinamungajan fire truck but the house was already engulfed by flames when they arrived. Damage was estimated at P100,000.

The suspect, whose suffered burns in both hands, was arrested by PO2 Erwin Paylado and detained at said station. Appropriate charges are set to be filed in court against the suspect. —/BRP (FREEMAN)
