Maria Lina catering attack "Mastermind" to file counter-affidavit soon
CEBU, Philippines - The counsel of Manilyn Mier, the alleged mastermind in the robbery and attempt to kill the owner of Maria Lina Catering Services, filed a manifestation before Prosecutor Rhodna Bacatan.
Lawyer Deolito Alvarez said he asked the prosecutor to send the subpoena to his office and not to Mier’s house.
The lawyer said they will submit the counter-affidavit of Mier once they receive the subpoena.
Alvarez said Bacatan already sent the subpoena to the address of Mier in Barangay Punta Princesa but the subpoena was returned because Mier was not there.
Alvarez said his client has yet to receive the subpoena. Reporters asked Alvarez how Mier is doing now but Alvarez refused to answer.
“I will not divulge the condition of Manilyn Mier first,” Alvarez said.
Mier faces charges before the City Prosecutor’s Office for frustrated homicide after two men pointed to her as the mastermind. She is the daughter-in law of Maria Lina Mier.
It was Maria Lina who filed a case of robbery with frustrated homicide against suspects Sim Abordo, Roldan Ranollo and Manilyn.
Maria Lina alleged that on March 20, 2011 at around 11:40 a.m., she and her family arrived in their house when Abordo, armed with a hand gun, suddenly grabbed her bag containing her two cellphones worth P17,000 and cash amounting to P340,000, several cards and other documents.
Maria Lina said she shouted for help while holding her handbag but the accused struck her head several times with the handgun.
The suspects boarded a motorcycle and tried to flee with Maria Lina’s valuables.
But Mier’s son, Kurt, who was about to park his car, noticed the incident and intentionally hit the motorcycle. The two men fell from the motorcycle with the shoulder bag and pistol.
The two boarded a taxi and attempted to escape but they were trapped and arrested by the police on Tres de Abril St. – (FREEMAN)
