Chong Hua to build new building for Fuente police

CEBU, Philippines - The Chong Hua Hospital will construct a new building not for medical purpose but to be donated to the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Station-2.

Jaffy Bratt Mandawe, public relations officer of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) said the project is theirs but the construction will be undertaken by the hospital, which is one of the member-companies of the chamber.

Mandawe explained the construction of building for the police is part of the CCCI’s advocacy to promote peace and order under its Adopt-A-Police-Station Project.

The scheduled signing of the memorandum of agreement (MOA) and the ground-breaking ceremony for the project will be on Monday. The building site is located in the lot across Camp Sergio Osmeña Sr., the Police Regional Office-7’s headquarters.

The CCCI’s Adopt-a-school project has received commendation from the public and even Mayor Michael Rama, who described it as a result of the public-private partnership.

After the completion of the new building, which will be financed by Chong Hua Hospital, the existing Fuente Osmeña Police Station will be converted into only a precinct.

The project is the fourth of the police stations constructed under the Adopt-a-Police-Station Project.

The first was the Mabolo Police and Fire Station, followed by the Waterfront Police Station and the San Nicolas Police Station.

Months after the new building of the San Nicolas Police Station and Fire Substation was turned over by CCCI to the Cebu City Police Office, it was adjudged as the best police station nationwide. It was financed by the Gaisano Capital Group.

The Mabolo Police Station and Fire Substation was constructed and funded by the Aboitiz Foundation Inc. while the Waterfront Police Station was built by Vicsal Corporation, the owner of Metro Gaisano.

Rama said the Adopt-a-Police-Station project has solved the lack of financial resources of the police to build new police stations. — Rene U. Borromeo/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
