CEBU, Philippines - At least 25 grams of shabu were seized from a man during a buy-bust operation conducted by police in Barangay Lorega, Cebu City Wednesday night.
Operatives of the City Intelligence Branch of the Cebu City Police Office arrested Edgar Areglo, 38, after he yielded five big packs of shabu worth P150,000.
Chief Insp. Romeo Santander, head of CIB, said they conducted the operation after receiving a report from an asset about the Areglo’s drug activities in the barangay.
After arranging a transaction with Areglo, a poseur-buyer went to meet with him around 10 p.m.
Santander said they arrested Areglo immediately after the suspect received the marked money. The suspect did not resist arrest.
A pack of shabu worth P30,000 that the suspect was supposed to be selling to the poseur-buyer was recovered by the authorities. Another four packs of the same substance were recovered from him later.
Santander said someone named “Bajok” gave the shabu to the suspect.
Areglo, who earns a living by selling eggs, said it was his first time to be involved in drugs. He said he was just granting a request of a friend to give it the supposed buyer.
He said the shabu was just handed over to him by a certain “Bojak” in Barangay Lorega.
Santander said the suspect is not on their list of wanted drug personalities. —(FREEMAN)
