- Garry B. Lao -

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama has formed a new task force to manage the traffic along the Banilad-Talamban corridor with the end view of regulating and putting order to the traffic flow within the area.

In his Executive Order No. 11-4, the mayor said the task force will be referred as Banilad-Talamban Traffic Task Force, which tasked is to oversee, coordinate and steer the execution and implementation of traffic-related projects and programs in the area.

Rama said the task force was created for the coming up of the best alternative solution on how the Banilad-Talamban area be best managed in terms of solving the traffic problem in the area.

The task force is composed of the mayor as the team leader, Jose Sala as the assistant team leader, and seven members from the CITOM and city engineering department.

Under the Executive Order, the task force will be responsible in the planning and operation of traffic flow in the Ban-Tal corridor in order to ensure the proper implementation and observance of the traffic rules and regulations within the area.

Also, the task force will make full coordinated policy decisions at all projects and programs.

They are also to coordinate with and supervise closely with the concerned traffic personnel on the basic and finer points of traffic management planning, problem solving, driver and pedestrian education and correct implementation of traffic rules and city ordinances particularly on property set-backs, parking and sidewalk regulations. —(FREEMAN)
