- Niña G. Sumacot-Abenoja -

CEBU, Philippines - Two motorcycle-riding men shot a teenager on C. Padilla St., Barangay Duljo-Fatima at 2 a.m. yesterday.

Ryan Mugot Debuayan, 19, single, jobless and resident of Sitio Trinidad, Barangay Punta Princesa was hit to the back. The bullet exited through his stomach.

The victim identified the gunman as certain “Mendoza,” who was with an unidentified cohort.

The victim alleged he was driving a motorcycle and was traversing along Kalunasan Bridge purposely to look for a former classmate.

After he failed to find who he was looking for, he allegedly made a U-turn in order to go home when suddenly, two men, who were riding in tandem on another motorcycle and were both armed with guns, chased him.

Without apparent reason, the suspects opened fire at him five times and was hit to the back once.

Debuayan crashed off along N. Bacalso Avenue while the suspects sped off and disappeared from the sight.

Responding policemen from Mambaling Police Station chased but failed to catch up with the culprits.

Police officers rushed Debuayan to the Cebu City Medical Center where he is now in a stable condition.

Three empty shells of caliber .45 pistol and a slug of the same caliber were recovered from the area where the shooting happened. These were turned over to the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office for proper disposition.

PO2 Jodan Batucan of the Homicide Section said the victim is not very cooperative with them prompting them to suspect that he was in the area because of an illegal activity.

Batucan suspected illegal drugs as possible motive behind the attack on the victim. — (FREEMAN)
