No names yet for new CPPO head

-

CEBU, Philippines - While the PNP has not yet submitted the names of candidates for the Cebu Provincial Police Office head, Police Regional Office 7 Director Ager Ontog yesterday named some senior superintendents he found qualified to head the office after Sr. Supt. Erson Digal relinquished his post.

Ontog named Sr. Supt. Mariano Natuel, Sr. Supt. Patrocinio Comendador and Sr. Supt. Ernesto Agas.

The name of Sr. Supt. Louie Oppus earlier cropped but Ontog said both Oppus and Sr. Supt. Josephus Angan are unlikely candidates.

“Masyado na silang senior para maging provincial director,” Ontog told reporters.

Oppus has been director of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office while Angan has also served as Police Regional Office-6 director. Ontog said that he already has requested Camp Crame clearance to issue orders for the relief of Digal and he expects to get the reply on Monday.

As soon as Ontog gets the approval of the PNP chief, he will issue the order for Digal’s relief and assign him to the regional office.

Ontog explained that it is the Senior Officer Placement Board who will evaluate and recommend to Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia the next CPPO director.

No names have been submitted by the SOPB as of yesterday, said Ontog.

Ontog joined Garcia during the launching of the patrol boat of the Provincial Anti-Illegal Fishing Task Force in San Remigio town yesterday.

Garcia said that she is just waiting for the list to be submitted to her from Camp Crame so she can choose.

Garcia earlier announced that she wants someone who does not like going to bars, drinking with commentators, and one who is not hungry for publicity.

Garcia said that she wants an officer who “recognizes that, above everything else, his responsibility is to conduct himself properly as a police officer and not a media celebrity.” (FREEMAN)
