CEBU, Philippines - At least three shooting incidents transpired over the weekend which left two men dead, one of whom shot by policemen, and a woman critically injured.Marlon Entera, jobless resident of sitio Bunbunan, Barangay Labangon, Cebu City was shot dead by Police Officer 2 Leo Gallego and PO1 Bradford Lavandero of the Mobile Patrol Group (MPG).

Edgard Whoolbright, 65, a trisikad driver, told Homicide Section investigators that Entera requested to be taken to Tres De Abril St. around almost 2 a.m. yesterday.

Upon reaching the area, Gallego, 30, and Lavandero, 32, saw that Entera had a firearm shouted for him to stop, identifying themselves as policemen.

But Entera jumped from the trisikad and opened fire at the policemen, who returned fire. Entera was hit and slumped on the ground.

The policemen called up the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation but paramedics declared Entera, who was lying face down on the road with multiple gunshot wounds, dead.

The two cops turned over to the Homicide Section a homemade caliber .38 revolver with two live bullets and three empty shells allegedly recovered from Entera.

They also turned over their service firearms used in the alleged shootout, two M16 A1 rifles, two magazines, one empty, 29 live bullets and five empty shells.

PO2 Jodan Batucan of the Homicide Section said that before the incident, Entera was involved in a shooting alarm at sitio Cekaleco wherein a group of young men with two minors complained against him.

Batucan said the barangay tanods alerted the MPG that an armed suspect was heading to Tres De Abril St. so the police conducted a roadblock.

Batucan also said Entera was a known toughie in their place and shot at anyone who crossed him.

Meanwhile, a 24-year-old woman is in critical condition after she was shot several times by an unidentified gunman at F. Llamas St., Barangay Punta Princesa at 8 p.m. last Saturday.

Faith Rabanes, 24, of St. Francis St., Don Bosco Village, Pleasant Homes Subdivision was with Vicky Guarde, 49, the mother of her boyfriend, who was also injured during the incident.

Batucan said Guarde was driving a Toyota Revo (YAA-200) with Rabanes at the front seat on their way home when they stopped at a junction as Rabanes bought bread at a bakeshop.

Shortly after she went back in the car, a man approached the passenger side of the car and shot both women.

Rabanes was hit on her right temple, right upper arm, and right lower arm while Guarde was grazed on her right thigh. They were both rushed to the Chong Hua Hospital.

Batucan said the gunman, who was described to be about 40 years old, rode on a motorcycle driven by a lesbian.

Policemen recovered seven empty shells of caliber .45 pistol from the crime scene, two pieces of slugs, and the vehicle.

Batucan said business rivalry could be the reason for the shooting.

“Posible na negosyo ang motibo. Realtor man ni si Guarde, engaged na siya sa buy and sell ug yuta. Napagan na lang ni si Rabanes. Sa amo sad interview ni Vicky, dili man siya kaayo cooperative. Mura man siya’g nay something nga gitaguan,” the police officer said.

In a separate incident, Antonio Laresma, 25, a rig driver, was walking home shortly before midnight yesterday in sitio Pasong Kabayo, Espolarium St., Barangay Duljo-Fatima, when he was shot by an unidentified person who was secretly following him.

He was found dead with gunshot wounds on his head, chest and back.

The police said no one is cooperating with the investigation.

“Sitio Ambot man gud nang lugara. Wa gani mi kahibaw jud lagi ug lalaki ba or babaye ang namusil kay puro ambot lagi ang mga tawo didto,” Batucan said. —(FREEMAN)
