Murder suspect arrested in Bohol

CEBU, Philippines - A murder suspect, who also happens to be the younger brother of a slain robbery suspect, was finally arrested by Cebu City Police last Wednesday in Getafe town, Bohol.

Arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest for a murder case was Isidro Nudalo Jr., alias “Botex”, a resident of Barangay Ermita, Cebu City.

PO3 Wetzel Berry of the Cebu City Police Office Homicide Section said that they arrested the suspect in Barangay Banakon, Getafe, past 4 p.m. last Wednesday.

Berry was with other Homicide Section personnel PO3s Lou Pagara and Geoffrey Gutual and PO2 Cristobal Geronimo and PO3 David Naraja of the City Intelligence Branch armed with the warrant of arrest issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 12 Judge Estela Alma Cinco. Pagara narrated that they arrested the suspect while they were at sea.

“Pagkahibaw namo na didto diay siya sa Getafe nangompra, amo na sad giadto, gasakay mi’g bangka. Nagkasalisi ra diay mi ato niya. Pag-abot namo sa Getafe, mao man sad pagbiya nila padung na uli sa Isla Banakon, didto among gidakop,” Pagara said. The suspect did not resist arrest, Pagara said.

Half of the team dispatched was sent to Bohol around 11 p.m. last Tuesday and was followed by the rest early Wednesday morning.

Nudalo was able to elude arrest last December when police tried to serve him the warrant in his house.

Police said he escaped after his companions Michael Ceniza and Chardilito Conson, both from Getafe, intervened in their operation. SPO1 Jay Yballe, chief investigator of the Homicide Section, said the suspect is responsible for the several shooting incidents in the Carbon area. Most of his victims were allegedly killed.

The latest shooting incident he was implicated was in Barangay Ermita September 21 last year. He allegedly shot a man after the latter ignored him when he asked for a P5 coin.

His elder brother, Joel, alias “Tongol”, was once considered Cebu’s public enemy no. 1 and one of the most wanted men in Central Visayas for his involvement in a notorious robbery group.

Tongol was shot dead by an assailant inside a cockpit in Buenavista town, Bohol, in June 2005, at the height of the vigilante-style killings in Cebu City. He died of 14 gunshot wounds.

Nudalo, together with Michael Sansan and Marcelino Sansan, are accused of shooting dead Glenn Abenoja last August 11, 2010 at the interior portion of Unit III Carbon Market, Ermita.

According to the resolution made by Prosecutor Simaco Labata, the killing was witnessed by the son of the victim, Kient Joezer Elizondo, and a certain Cyril Sagano Ricaplaza.

Nudalo denied the charges against him saying he has no knowledge about it.

No bail was recommended for all of the accused. (FREEMAN)
