For neglect of duty three Danao cops face investigation
CEBU, Philippines - Three police officers assigned at Danao City Police Station will face pre-charge investigation for simple neg-lect of duty after a suspected “shabu queen” was allegedly able to use a laptop-type television inside her detention cell.
Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) Director Erson Digal said he already directed Danao City police chief Eddie Recamara to conduct a strict check-up and frisking on any jail visitor.
“Dili magmika ang magbantay kay wa sila kahibawo nga gipanggabas na diay na ang rehas sa sulod,” Digal said.
Recamara ordered the relief of SPO 4 Edgar Gomez, PO2 Marlon Remollo and PO3 Matias Galo right after he received and verified the report on the alleged laxity of the three.
He said any explanation from the relieved officers was not necessary since he himself saw the television in the possession of drug suspect Marites Dalumpines when he conducted an inspection inside her cell.
The three police officers were acting as desk officers and jailers at the same time of the police station where the suspected drug queen is detained following her arrest by the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group (PAIDSOTG) last week.
Gomez and Remollo were temporarily reassigned to Kababayan Center near Mitsumi while Galo was reassigned to the mobile patrol while investigation against them is being conducted.
Dalumpines was arrested on January 28 with several packs of illegal drugs amounting to P5,000. She was allegedly a level 2 drug pusher in Barangay Sabang and can dispose up to 200 grams of shabu worth P2.5 million every week.
Digal reminded all chiefs of police to be vigilant, saying the only objective of the detainees is “how to escape.”
He said that jail inspection should not be conducted once a day but from time to time.
“Basin ang pagkaon nga gidala dunay hinagiban o di ba kaha armas mapusilan hinuon ang jail guard,” Digal said. — (FREEMAN)
