New CPPO unit created

- Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Provincial Police Office has created a unit to assist policemen in responding to alarms within their area of responsibility.

The Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team will serve as another unit in the barangay level equivalent to the Barangay Intelligence Network that will help policemen in responding to different operations.

BPAT personnel are under the police chief but will be headed by the Police Community Relation chief Allan Cuizon who is taking charge of the training of the applicants.

Applicants should come from the barangay where they are applying and should not have derogatory records.

They are trained for a week in search and rescue operations, disaster relief and intelligence work.

Cebu Provincial Police Office Director Erson Digal said that BPAT will be a big help to the manpower of policemen.

“Mag-monitor sila sa ilang jurisdiction pero kung magpabadlong sila tangtangon gyud,” Digal said.

In Cebu Province, San Remigio already has 105 personnel who graduated from BPAT training while Daanbantayan has 75. He added that they are still waiting for the other towns to request for training and form their own units.

Digal warned politicians not to use the BPAT as goons since they will not be under the local government unit but under the command of the CPPO.

Meanwhile, 16 personnel of the CPPO were promoted yesterday.

The highest in rank to be promoted was Milagros Soliano who is now Superintendent.

Seven others were promoted to Senior Inspectors; Allan Rosario, Keneth Paul Albotra, Gerard Ace Pelare, Maria Theresa Macatangay, Raymundo Rodriguez, Almirante Bacayo and Jose Rovic Villarin.

Eight others who promoted to Inspectors; Edgar Awe, Ricardo Echavez, Romulo Toralba, Aniceto Manloloyo, Emmanuel Masong, Lamberto Hibaya, Catalina Diotay and Bernabe Coyoca.

Digal said that the personnel promoted should always inculcate the moral values and virtues of life.

“Great power comes with great responsibility,” he quoted.  (FREEMAN NEWS)
