CEBU, Philippines - A barangay councilman was shot dead by the suspect who stole his fighting cock in Das Village 2, Barangay Das, Toledo City yesterday morning.
Barangay Bagakay councilor Ricardo Parame , 29, was shot thrice by the unidentified assailant while outside the house of his parents.
Police disclosed around 3:10 a.m., the mother of the victim woke up after she noticed somebody was in their backyard and asked Ricardo to check.
When the victim got out of the front door of the house, he saw the suspect carrying their fighting cock but before he could say anything the suspect fired at him three times.
Ricardo was hit to his right hips and leg and was rushed to Carmen Copper Corporation Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Responding police officers recovered one deformed slug and two empty shells of caliber .45 pistol, which was allegedly used by the suspect.

Meanwhile, in Cebu City, a young man was found dead with a lone gunshot wound to his head early yesterday morning on C. Padilla St., Barangay Duljo-Fatima.
The man, who remained unidentified as of press time, was described to be about 20 to 25 years old, slim-built and stood about 5’4” tall. He was wearing a green T-shirt paired with a red jersey shorts and black slippers when his body was found.
According to Duljo-Fatima barangay tanod Larry Camero, 46, he was on duty and was patrolling in the area around 2:45 am when he suddenly heard a single burst of gunfire.
He was prompted to verify the origin of the sound and eventually discovered the victim sprawling on the pavement already bloodied and seemed unconscious.
Paramedics from the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF) who responded to Camero’s call for assistance declared the victim dead.
