DSWD accepts applicants for Student Training Program
CEBU, Philippines - The Department of Social Welfare and Development-7 based in Cebu City is now accepting students coming from local or foreign colleges and universities who would like to spend their Student Training Program (STP) with the agency.
In the last six years, the DSWD has partnered with the following 12 affiliate schools who have been sending students for actual practice through internship or on-the-job-training all year round:MBL Training Center, Cebu Center for Skills Development and Training, Inc. (CCSDTI), Cebu Doctors University (CDU), University of San Carlos (USC) Graduate School, University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJR), Cebu Normal University , CAP College Foundation, St. Theresa’s College, South Western University, University of Southern Philippines, University of Cebu, Cebu Normal University and International Schools like the Amsterdam Institute of Education, University College of Sor Trondelag in Norway, Saxion University of Enschede, Netherlands.
These students were sent for actual hands-on practice in their different fields at the DSWD-7 centers and institutions like the Reception and Study Center for Children (RSCC), Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center (AVRC), Home for Girls and the Haven.
STP also provides students meaningful learning experiences and opportunities to appreciate government service delivery in social welfare and development.
The DSWD has been implementing the STP as one of the regular programs for graduate and undergraduate students of various courses.The agency serves as a laboratory for testing and transmitting theories into practice because of the availability of broad and comprehensive opportunities which provide students wider perspective in various settings.
In the previous years, DSWD-7 has served almost 700 hundred student interns from the different schools based in Metro Cebu and abroad as well with courses like Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology, BS Psychology. BA Psychology, SE in Social Work,BS Physical therapist, BS Nursing, BS Computer Engineering, BS Occupational Theraphy, Pedagogical Studies, Associate in Computer Technology and Care giving.
DSWD is encouraging schools, universities and students especially those in the field of social work , clinical and industrial psychology, secretarial, physical therapy, occupational therapy, care giving courses, associate computer and programmer to tie-up with the Department for an internship program.One may look for STP Focal Person Hazel Dinah Miel at tel. no. 2329509. — /WAB (FREEMAN)
