- Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines - Four people were injured in an accident involving two motorcycles-for-hire in barangay Cagsing, Ginatilan Tuesday afternoon.

Visitacion Pohino, 61, a resident of barangay Salamangca was taken to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center for a fractured leg.

The other victims, who were taken to the rural health center for minor injuries, were Rosalinda Biñas, 47, six-year-old John Joshua Ondoc and the driver, Felicisimo Eranes, 55. They are all residents of barangay Salamangca.

Police investigation revealed Eranes was transporting three passengers from Poblacion to Salamangca onboard his TMX 155 motorcycle-for-hire bearing plate number 7495 GA.

While approaching an elevated blind curve, Eranes tried to overtake another motorcycle-for-hire. When he maneuvered to the left he hit the motorcycle traveling from the opposite direction.

The Ramstar 150 with plate number IK 5217 was driven by Efren Laguras, 25, a resident of barangay Cambagte.

Laguras noticed Eranes and managed to stop his motorcycle but Eranes lost control and slammed on the rough road with his passengers.

Other motorcycle drivers who saw the incident sought assistance from the municipal hall.

A municipal-owned vehicle rushed to the area and took the victims to the health center except for Pohino, who was rushed to VSMMC.

Police Officer 1 Michael Sevilla said that the particular barangay road is an accident-prone area because it is narrow and rough. — (FREEMAN)
