CEBU, Philippines -   A 30-year-old man was shot and stabbed several times while he was onboard a tricycle bound for his home at sitio Guiwanon, barangay Poblacion, Dalaguete Monday afternoon.

Condrado Salonoy, a resident of barangay Consolacion, suffered a gunshot wound and multiple stab wounds after he was attacked by four suspects but only Virgilio Lajos and a certain “Junjun” were identified. Both also live in barangay Consolacion.

Salonoy was rushed to the Dr. Alfonso Alcantara Memorial Hospital but later referred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.

Police investigation revealed that Salonoy was onboard on a tricycle while   heading home from barangay Poblacion when the incident happened.

Upon reaching sitio Guiwanon, the suspects were already standing at the roadside and flagged down the tricycle, acting as passengers.

Lajos later stabbed Salonoy several times with a hunting knife. One of the suspects pulled out an undetermined caliber of firearm and shot the victim’s right leg.

The suspects immediately fled after the incident while the victim managed to run towards the police station several meters away.

Responding police officers were able to arrest Lajos during their hot pursuit operation. He is now detained in the Dalaguete police stockade while the three other assailants are still at large.

A frustrated homicide will be filed against the suspect today at the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office, said PO2 Reynaldo Amarallento. – (FREEMAN)
