Man shot on heard survives
CEBU, Philippines - A man was seriously injured after he was shot in the head by an unidentified man during a fiesta celebration in Sitio Pang-pang, in the mountain barangay of Buot-taup, last Sunday night.
Ernesto de Leon Bitug, 44, is currently being treated at the Cebu City Medical Center after he was shot by a man believed to be someone he bested in a coin toss game locally known as “hantak”.
Investigation showed that the victim, a resident of Barangay Bon-bon of the same town, was betting on the hantak game around 9 p.m. when the assailant, armed with a gun, appeared and shot the victim.
The victim, who was hit in the left side of his head, was rushed to the hospital while the assailant fled upon the arrival of the responding policemen.
PO2 Jodan Batucan of the Homicide Section said they were able to talk with the victim at the hospital but the latter would not tell them who his assailant was, even though it was apparent he knew who the person was.
“Ay nagsugal man gud na didto ang biktima kay fiesta man gahapon sa Barangay Buot-taup, mountain barangay na nga duol na sa Balamban. Then dili gyud mutug-an ug tinuod ang biktima. Basin ug naay pildihan didto then nanghasi or gituyo ba og pusil ang biktima,” the investigator said. (FREEMAN NEWS)
