Fire razes Punta Apt
CEBU, Philippines - A fire hit a two-storey apartment located along F. Llamas Street in Guadalupe Heights, barangay Punta Princesa past 4am yesterday.
No one was hurt in the fire, but damage was pegged at P350,000. The residential structure owned by Jojo and Geraldine Rama.
Occupants of the apartment, Roger Aligarbes of door number one and the Ochabello couple of door number two, were sleeping when the incident happened.
Senior Fire Officer 1 Nilo Daculan of Bureau of Fire Protection said the fire started inside the apartment of Aligarbes as alleged by his helper Lonisa Oros.
Oros said the apartment was already covered in smoke when she woke up and the thing she knew, the apartment was already on fire. She then immediately woke Aligarbes up.
Daculan said they received the alarm about 4:28 am and controlled the fire within seven minutes. The fire was raised to the first alarm. He said the apartment’s fire walls prevented the fire was spreading to neighboring structures and the residents nearby were very helpful in bringing the victims’ belongings out of the apartment.
Daculan said the fire was traceable to an electrical problem.
Elements of Punta Princesa Police Station 10 also assisted the fire fighters by controlling the crowd.
“Maayo nga naa sila kay limpyo ang agianan, dali ra mi nakasulod sa lugar aside nga along the road ra pud ang nahimutangan,” Daculan said. (FREEMAN NEWS)
