Man shot at benefit dance

CEBU, Philippines - A 27-year-old man was shot dead during a benefit dance at sitio Pag-asa, barangay Canamucan, Compostela yesterday dawn.

Samuel Iglesias, a resident of sitio Sambag, barangay Magay, sustained a gunshot wound in his chest and was rushed to Danao District Hospital.

He was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

The suspect, Ramil Lima of sitio Anahaw, barangay Magay hurriedly fled right after the incident.

Police investigation disclosed that the suspect and his brother Michael Lima were drinking with some friends outside the dancing area when the victim’s group arrived.

Upon seeing each other, Michael embraced Samuel to apologize regarding a previous rift but this only led to an argument.

Joel Adana, a friend of Michael, was trying to pacify the two when Ramil arrived from the dancing area and saw the incident.

Ramil pulled out and undetermined caliber of firearm and shot the victim in the chest.

“Way duha-duha ug daghang pangutana gipusil jud dayon niya ang biktima,” SPO2 Pedro Enriquez told The Freeman. (He shot the victim without questions or hesitation.)

The friends of Samuel rushed him to the hospital.
