Philips lights up CCMC

- Rene U. Borromeo -

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) will become brighter in the coming days after Philips Electronics and Lighting Company yesterday donated 500 pieces of flourescent tubes for the use of the city-owned hospital.

Mayor Michael Rama happily accepted the donations worth close to P40,000 from Rico Gonzalez, the general manager and chief executive officer of Philips Electronics and Lighting Company.

The donation includes 400 pieces of 36 watts long flourescent tubes costing P73 each and 100 pieces of 18-watt short flourescent tubes that cost P64 each.

Gonzales explained that they have decided to help the Cebu City Medical Center not because the city cannot shoulder the said expenses. It is their intention for their company to share its blessings to the public he said.

Rama admired Gonzales for his laudable move in helping the 48-year old city-owned hospital. He said this will help the City minimize its budget for the maintenance of the medical facility.

Some City Hall officials suggested that all donations for the Cebu City Medical Center should be recorded in the books to prevent these from falling into the hands of unscrupulous persons. (FREEMAN)
