CEBU, Philippines - Tickets for admittance to the grandstand for the Sinulog grand parade were officially sold out yesterday, the Sinulog Foundation Inc. announced.

SFI staff member Emil Pascual said by noon yesterday, all the tickets amounting to P400 which were the cheapest were all sold out.

He added that they started selling tickets last January 3 and by January 4, tickets amounting to P600 were immediately sold out.

“In just one and a half days, sold out na ang pinakamahal nga ticket,” Pascual said.

Tickets sold for P500 were also sold out last January 9.

SFI Executive Director Ricky Ballesteros expects 20,000 to 30,000 people to watch the performances from the grandstand on Sunday.

“Pero estimated ra na. People come and go man gud,” Ballesteros said.

He also warned against those selling fake gate passes on the day itself.

“Kanang mamaligya sa gawas, amo gyud nang dakpon,” he added.

People should be aware that unlike the fake tickets which appear too shiny, official tickets are marked with the SFI seal and countersigned by SFI staff.

Ballesteros said that Governor Gwen Garcia will be dancing on Sunday morning and people from the Cebu City mayor’s office were given VIP IDs to watch from the grandstand.

He added that members of the international media are also here in Cebu to witness the “mother of all festivals”.

Paul Christy, a writer from National Geographic, will also feature the Sinulog Grand Parade in its magazine.

A TV France 3 News Team shall also document the Sinulog Festival particularly the participation of Tribu Sinanduloy from Tangub City.   (FREEMAN)
