CEBU, Philippines - A total of 10 students from 10 different colleges and universities in Cebu are set to compete in the 5th Gullas Inter-Collegiate Oratorical Contest on January 12 at the Inday Pining Teatro of the University of the Visayas Main Campus.
The competing schools and universities are Cebu Eastern College, Cebu Normal University, Cebu Institute of Technology – University, St. Theresa’s College, Southwestern University, University of Cebu, University of the Philippines Cebu College, University of San Carlos, University of San Jose-Recoletos and University of the Visayas.
The theme for this year’s contest is “High Ideals Belong to Great Hearts and Noble Souls.” The champion will receive P10,000 and a gold medal, a trophy for the school and P3,000 for the coach/trainer; the 1st runner up will receive P7,500 and a silver medal, a trophy for the school and P2,500 for the coach/trainer; and the 2nd runner up will receive P5,000 and a bronze medal, a trophy for the school and P2,000 for the coach/trainer. All contestants will receive a certificate of participation and P1,000.
Judges for the contest are Dr. Arachelle Baduel Jose, Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology, Deborah Hospital, New Jersey, U.S.A; Zeny M. Baduel, Chairman of the Department of Computer Studies, University of Sta. Monica, California USA, and Dr. Lelani P. Echaves, opinion columnist of SunStar Daily Cebu. (FREEMAN NEWS)
