Consolacion to promote products in "Suroy Suroy"

CEBU, Philippines - Products made by the different barangays in Consolacion town will be placed in a spotlight next week when the town hosts "Suroy Suroy Sugbo Northern Escapade" on January 19.

Consolacion Mayor Teresa Alegado made the announcement after a meeting with barangay captains and officials, department heads, and different sectors in preparation for the big affair.

Mayor Alegado said this is the first time her administration will host the yearly SuroySuroy Sugbo of the provincial government under the administration of Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia.

Alegado said her administration is on good terms with the provincial government and the town will try its best to make the affair successful.

Alegado said it is also time for the residents to showcase their products to visitors, some of them balikbayas and tourists.

"Daghan kaayo kita og mga produkto ingon man mga pagkaon nga gihimo sa atong mga mulopyo sa kabarangayan nga angayan nato ikapasigarbo ug angayan ipahibawo sa publiko," Alegado said.

Alegado said that she has asked newly-elected president of the Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) Marilou Casul to help her office with the preparations.

The three-day "Suroy Suroy Sugbo Northern Escapade" will start in Consolacion and proceed to other northern towns including Bantayan Island and Danao City. (FREEMAN)
