Fire hits 9 houses
CEBU, Philippines - A man was injured in a fire that destroyed nine houses yesterday afternoon in sitio Holy Child, barangay Bulacao, Talisay City.
An electrical wire fell on Ramonito Dupio, which he had cut in a bid to prevent the fire from spreading. The live wire got in contact with him, sending him to the ground from the rooftop of a house which is about a meter high.
He was rushed to the Talisay City District Hospital.
Talisay City Fire Marshal Felipe Canillas said the fire started at 3:40 p.m. and was put off about 10 minutes later.
Investigators have yet to establish the cause of the blaze as well as the cost of damage to property.
The fire reportedly started at the house of Danilo Montillar.
It quickly spread to neighboring houses as most of them were made of light materials, the fire marshall said. - (FREEMAN)
