Man arrested for rob attempt

CEBU, Philippines - A man was arrested as he allegedly tried to steal from two Chinese tourists as they slept inside their room at the Saavedra Beach Resort, Panagsama, Moalboal town, last Saturday past 2 a.m.

The two tourists were identified as Chan Ka Yee, 35, and her sister Chan Kwai Yee, 37, while the suspect was Marvin Mascardo, 27, a resident of Barangay Poblacion Punong, Samboan town.

The two said they were both sleeping when Chan Kwai was awakened after hearing a loud thud inside their room.

Chan Kwai shouted for help upon seeing Mascardo inside their room with their wallets in his possession.

Mascardo immediately threw the $420 dollars and 200 Hong Kong dollars on the floor before he was arrested by the bystanders and barangay tanods who responded to the alarm.

According to SPO1 Gaudencio Pariel of Moalboal Police Station the suspect entered their room by removing three jalousie blades at the comfort room window and wiggling himself inside.

“Didto siya agi pero pagsulod niya wa siyay katikangan maong nipugos og layat,” he said

When the responding police officers arrived, the suspect had already been collared was closely guarded by the bystanders.

Mascardo is detained at the Moalboal police stockade awaiting charges to be filed against him.  (FREEMAN)
