CEBU, Philippines - Three houses were totally destroyed while two others were partially damaged after an afternoon fire hits Alcover Compound in Sitio Villa Bulsita Barangay Bulacao yesterday.
The Cebu City Fire Department received the alarm at 4:00 p.m. and was immediately placed under control three minutes later.
Initial investigation revealed that the fire started at the house of Estrella Ligan.
Senior Fire Officer 1 Vic Mercado, fire investigator, is yet to determine the cause of the fire and the owners of the two other houses that were damaged as of press time.
But Mercado said there were reports that the fire started by children playing with matchsticks inside Ligan’s house.
There was also information that a lighted kerosene lamp caused the fire.
Mercado said he is still conducting further investigation to ascertain the fire origin and to determine the extent of the damage. — (THE FREEMAN)
