OFW found dead in Lapu-Lapu
CEBU, Philippines - An overseas Filipino worker, who had just arrived from Dubai, was found dead near his home in barangay Looc, Lapu-Lapu City with a hole in the head yesterday.
Police have theorized that Renante Zoilo, 35, who is separated from his wife, was either shot or a nail driven through his skull.
The Homicide Section said Zoilo went out of his house to buy beer at around 1 a.m. at a neighbor's store and promptly went back.
Later, Zoilo was found dead, his face on the ground.
Zoilo's father, Rogelio, who is a village watchman, believes his son was killed while he was relieving himself.
The two bottles of beer and the cigarettes he had bought earlier were found at his side.
"Grabe ang gihimo ngadto sa akong anak, nigawas gud ang utok," Rogelio said.
Police have theorized that Zoilo was either hit with a piece of wood with a nail near one end, the nail remaining on his head, or was shot.
Homicide said Zoilo's death could have resulted from a spur-of-the moment attack, or it was a settling of scores since Zoilo's father had earlier arrested a juvenile who was a notorious thief.
His separation from his wife would also be looked into, Homicide said. (FREEMAN)
