- Niña G. Sumacot-Abenoja -

CEBU, Philippines - A construction worker was stabbed to death by his co-worker at the construction site of the Gaisano Minglanilla Branch last Saturday afternoon.

The victim was identified as Jerry Labacu, a resident of Jaclupan Camp 3 in Talisay City while the suspect was identified as Joey Fernandez, of Barangay Tulay, Minglanilla. Both are of legal age.

Investigation showed that the two were drinking with their fellow construction workers at the back of the ongoing construction in Poblacion, Minglanilla.

At around 3:45 p.m., the two figured in an argument until the suspect was seen leaving the place a couple of minutes later.

However, the suspect later came back already armed with a bladed weapon and stabbed the victim twice, hitting the latter’s upper right portion of his chest.

The suspect immediately fled before the police could arrive. The responding policemen rushed the victim to the Minglanilla District Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.

The police are still looking for the suspect. (FREEMAN)
