Drunk man goes berserk, stoned to death by friend
CEBU, Philippines – A man was stoned to death by his friend Monday dawn for becoming unruly while having a drinking session in Barangay Baliang, Danao City.
Reneboy Dawe, 39, died because of severe head injury when his friend Richard Capungan pelted him with stones.
Capungan, 34, and the victim were having a drinking session while attending a benefit dance. Dawe reportedly went on berserk, pulling out a 6-inches knife and tried to stab the suspect.
Capungan escaped from the attack and pelted Dawe with a big stone on the head causing the latter to fall. While the victim lays unconscious on the ground, Capungan took another stone and pounded Dawe's head.
SPO4 Jose Salingua Jr. of Danao City Police Station said that the victim was harboring personal grudge against the suspect. It was allegedly triggered because of drunkenness.
"Mao na kung maka-inom maka-estorya na og bati," Salingua said.
The suspect voluntarily surrendered to Barangay Captain Ronilo Tejero who turned over him to the police station.
The police also recovered the stones with bloodstains and the 6-inches long knife used by the victim at the crime scene.
The police officers said they are still waiting for the family of the victim to file appropriate charges against the suspect. (FREEMAN)
