Stray bullet hits BIN member inside CCPO
CEBU, Philippines – A member of the Barangay Intelligence Network landed in the hospital after he figured in a freak accident inside the Cebu City Police Office last Monday afternoon.
Charles Angga, 23, was talking to PO2 Cherry Torregosa at the CCPO finance office about 4pm when a bullet hit him on the nape. Other policemen who were in the room said they were just surprised when Angga said "agay" (ouch) and slumped to the floor.
Angga was rushed to the Chong Hua Hospital where he underwent surgery. He was declared safe and stable yesterday.
Police are yet to determine where the bullet came from but SPO4 Alex Dacua of the Homicide Section was quick to say that the firing range at the camp is "very safe."
He said it has never happened that someone was hit by a bullet from the firing range. The range is about 15 meters from the finance office.
"It's either ra jud gikan na sa sulod or gawas sa kampo. Pero kung sa sulod gud gikan, nahibawan na unta dayon kinsa ang nagpasalba ug pusil, so sa gawas gyud na gikan," Dacua said.
He, however, said an official statement would be issued once the crime laboratory completes its examination on the bullet's trajectory.
City policemen are currently on gun proficiency training, but The FREEMAN observed yesterday that they used the firing range only until 4pm. (FREEMAN)
