CCPO feeds 550 kids in Inayawan

CEBU, Philippines – The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) conducted a feeding program for around 550 children in Barangay Inayawan yesterday morning at the barangay's sport complex.

Chief Insp. Romeo Santander, head of the City Intelligence Branch (CIB), led yesterday's activity dubbed as "Pulis ko, Amigo ko."

He said that this is part of the effort of the police to convey message to the children that they should not be afraid of policemen.

Santander said the children that they were able to gather were mostly scavengers. The police also included the parents.

He said that their target was 500 children but they were able to feed 50 more.

"In a way, pasalamat sad ni sa ilahang parents ug sa community as a whole for coordinating with us in our intelligence operations," Santander said.

The activity was attended by the CIB team, some personnel of the Police Community Relations and the Barangay Intelligence Network members. It was held from 10:30 am to 12 pm.

Santander said this is the first feeding program he initiated since he assumed as new head of the CIB. The children, who were given bread and juice" were between one to eight years old.

He said the money spent for the food was the fund the CIB got through their CCPO Director Melvin Ramon Buenafe and from the pledges also of the BIN members.

The CIB chief added that they will be doing the same activity quarterly, but they will have to do feeding activities this month.

"Naa man kunohay bonus from President Pnoy maong mu-conduct mi the same activity before our Christmas Party on Dec. 15," he said.

Santander said they will conduct their next feeding program possibly in Barangay Villagonzalo especially the area where illegal drug activities are said to be rampant.

He added that the same program was already held this year in Barangays Duljo-Fatima and Pasil. (FREEMAN)
