Former town residents donate books to school

- Jose P. Sollano -

CEBU, Philippines -  Former residents of Consolacion town who are now residing in the United States have donated books and other reading materials to the Consolacion Community College.

The donation was possible through the help of friends and family members of Consolacion Mayor Teresa Alegado who are now living in the United States.

Mayor Alegado said when she assumed office last July 1, 2010, a number of her friends in the United States called her and asked her what they can do to help her administration.

Alegado said she told them that the improvement of the quality of education among the youth in the town is one of the priority programs of her administration.

The mayor said she had told them she would secure the necessary permits for the Consolacion Community College so it can operate.

She said she personally asked the Commission on Higher Education to allow the Community College in Consolacion to operate and open subjects.

Recently, CHED-7 approved at least five courses for Consolacion. (FREEMAN)
