Australian raped

CEBU, Philippines – A 16-year-old Australian national was raped while sleeping at her friend's house in barangay Patupat, Barili, Tuesday dawn. "Charie" (not her real name) is from barangay Ocaña, Carcar and is in third year high school.

Arrested and detained was Renan Fajardo, 18. He is facing charges for rape and violation of Republic Act 7610 or the law protecting women and children.

Police Senior Inspector Marlon Gumabao of the Barili Police Station said that Charie was visiting her friend and failed to go home because it was already late.

She fell asleep while her friend went to a wake in the neighborhood. She woke up when she noticed the suspect already beside her.

She tried to struggle and shout but Fajardo threatened her. She went home and told her parents of what happened.

Fajardo claimed that Charie was his girlfriend but she denied this. (FREEMAN)
