House razed in San Fernando

-

CEBU, Philippines – Due to an electric fan that overheated, a house went to ashes in barangay Sangat, San Fernando yesterday morning.

The fire started at the second floor of the semi-concrete house owned by Filomena Atillo, 71.

FO3 Jocelyn Escumo estimated the damaged to be P100,000.

Escumo said the victim forgot to turn off the electric fan at the second floor while she was watching television downstairs with her grandchildren. She immediately ran outside with the kids so no one was hurt.

In another fire, a two-storey house was partially burned T. Villa St., Barangay T. Padilla yesterday afternoon.

The whole second floor of the house owned by Rosario Cañete was razed. The first floor, which was made of concrete, was not affected, SFO1 Nilo Daculan said.

Cañete, who was attending to her sari-sari store when it happened, believed that her four-year-old daughter could have been playing with matchsticks or lighter.

Cañete has observed her daughter playing with it for a week already and has kept on warning her against it. - Niña G. Sumacot and Ria Mae Y. Booc/JPM (FREEMAN)
