Crips member survives ambush by rival gang

CEBU, Philippines – A member of the notorious Crips Gang was injured after having shot at by three suspected members of the rival Bloods Gang inside the Carreta Cemetery yesterday dawn.

Christopher Unabia, 18, a carwash boy and resident of Sitio Ponce Barangay Capitol Site,   was on his way home together with his fellow gang members when another group of people, believed to be members of their rival gang, fired at them.

Unabia was hit on his right knee before he and his group could find a safer ground. The incident happened at 4:00 a.m. Sunday dawn the two notorious groups accidentally met along General Maxilom Avenue.

The victim was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center by some residents of the area while the alleged gunman, identified only as a certain Rustom, a resident of Barangay Lorega, disappeared together with his two companions when the responding policemen arrived.

Homicide investigators said the motive behind the incident is apparently the continuing conflict between the two rival gangs.

These gangs continue their war despite the attempts of the government to reconcile them, at one point, by making them sign a peace agreement. (FREEMAN)
