CCPO told to follow rules

CEBU, Philippines - The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) has spotted ‘irregularities’ at the Cebu City Police Office for the past two days it conducted inspection.

Among those NAPOLCOM said CCPO needs to improve on is the strict supervision of all duty personnel. NAPOLCOM said CCPO should not tolerate nor condone any conduct that would violate the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards of the Philippine National Police, as well as memoranda of NAPOLCOM, including Memorandum Circular Number 2008-010, Memorandum Circular Number 2008-008 and Memorandum Circular No. 2007-001.

NAPOLCOM also ordered the strict implementation of policy and guidelines like the proper wearing of uniform while on duty. Policemen are also disallowed from engaging in gambling and drinking intoxicating beverage while on duty or while inside the office.

Designated drivers are directed to stand or to at least ask permission from their superiors should they intend to go somewhere.

Meanwhile, all beat patrol and night watch personnel are directed to always coordinate with their action officer or deputy for briefing before undertaking an operation. Beat inspectors are also directed to monitor patrol personnel under his supervision. NAPOLCOM said PNP patrol cars should be used only for official business.

NAPOLCOM said police officers and personnel found to be violating policies and guidelines will be recommended for proper administrative charges.

Inspectors also looked into attendance, maintenance of service firearms, accomplishments and performances of the police office. (FREEMAN)
