Four of seven hack victims file affidavits

CEBU, Philippines – Only four of seven hacking victims went to the police station in Lapu-Lapu City yesterday to file affidavits in connection with the hacking incident Sunday at the public plaza while the city was celebrating its annual fiesta.

The police filed a direct assault case in the fiscal's office yesterday against Rosalio Tariman while a frustrated homicide case will be filed today in the same office, police investigator PO3 Dioscoro Arong said.

The victims who will file a frustrated homicide case are Felicita Makalipay, 60, of V. Rama Ave., Cebu City; Lorry Cañete, 33, of Puso Center, Mactan; Bebelyn Amabao, 26, of barangay Bakilid, Mandaue City; and Andrecia Sumalinog, 38, of Ilaya, barangay Marigondon.

PO3 Arong told The Freeman the police have four affidavits from the complainants. Sumalinog, who sustained two wounds, also issued a medical certificate.

He said the three others have to secure medical certificates to be able to file the case before lunch today.

"Bahala og upat ra ni sila basta naa lay mo-file og kaso," Arong said.

Arong said it is up to the court to determine whether Tariman is insane.

Tariman was shot by two policemen when he went for them with his knife.

He sustained two gunshot wounds in the back and was taken to the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC).

City Director Police Senior Superintendent Mariano Natuel Jr. will send his request of commendation for the two policemen to Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 today as he had promised. (FREEMAN)
