Korean couple recovers 'lost' bag with help of hotel
CEBU, Philippines – A Korean couple who left their bag in the taxi they took from the airport successfully recovered the bag with the help of the hotel they were staying in.
The couple arrived in Cebu at 12:50 am last Sunday and took a yellow taxi from the Mactan Cebu International Airport to the Sarrosa International Hotel and Residential Suites in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City.
A few minutes after checking in, they realized that a bag containing important documents was missing.
They immediately informed the night duty officer, Peter Barcenas, who then reviewed the logbook at the hotel entrance. The logbook contains the description and details of all vehicles that bring or fetch clients to and from the hotel.
The taxi's details were forwarded to Christopher Ybañez of the yellow airport taxi who, in turn, successfully traced vehicle that took the couple to the hotel. The bag was returned to the couple after four hours.
Jun Perocillo, the hotel's resident manager, attributes the recovery of the bag to their recording system.
"This is not the first time that we have recovered lost bags and documents. This is because of our recording system wherein the hotel entrance guards are also tasked to do the complete recording of all taxi units who pick up and drop off our guests," Perocillo said.
"Just a week ago, we were able to recover passport, credit cards and important travel documents of our guest who also left his bag inside the taxi. This is part and parcel of our good service accorded to our guests be it local or foreign guests," he added.
The Korean couple reportedly came to the Philippines to open a restaurant here in Cebu City and the documents in the bag are needed to process their business permits. They stayed in the hotel until yesterday.
The Freeman is withholding the names of the couple upon request of the hotel. (FREEMAN)
