Man, mistaken for frat member, shot thrice
CEBU, Philippines - A 61-year-old man, mistaken for a fraternity member, was shot thrice by a member of a rival fraternity yesterday in sitio Nawanao in barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
Roman Enriquez, 61, single, and a resident of Nawanao, was taken to the Mandaue City Hospital but was later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City hospital.
Mandaue City Police Office Homicide P/Insp.Ramil Morpos said that at around 1 a.m. Monday, Enriquez was eating at the dining table when his nephew, Denie Capuyan, a member of the Betan Gamma Rho arrived.
A few seconds later, shots rang out. Enriquez was hit on the chest and abdomen.
Homicide chief P/Insp.Ramil Morpos of the Mandaue City Police Office theorized that Enriquez was a victim of mistaken identity, the target being his nephew.
The gunman was identified Guillermo Panabi, 20, who works as a welder, and a member of the Alpha Kappa Rho fraternity.
Morpos said the motive could be revenge.
Last October 18, Panabi's sibling was killed by a Betan member. (FREEMAN)
